Grails have released Miracle Music, and it’s a wild mix of dreamy synths, wild drum beats, and both soft and electric guitar sounds.
Instead of sticking to one style, Grails float between classical music and rock, making space for themselves in songs like “Strange Paradise” where the trumpet almost feels like it’s flying, or “Silver Bells” which starts the album off with a big, growing sound. The whole album sort of floats between being super chill and super trippy, never really picking one, and that’s what makes Miracle Music stand out.

Ezra Furman starts Goodbye Small Head with a strange looping voice and a cello that sounds rough and scratchy. “It can happen whenever/I don’t hold the lever,” she says in “Grand Mal,” and that line kind of sums up the whole album—nobody knows when life will surprise us, but we can try to get ready for it anyway.
Sometimes, people just want music that helps them feel steady when things get weird.
Ezra’s songs are full of energy, like the loud and wild “Jump Out” or the bluesy “Power of the Moon.” Even when she lets go of control, the music finds a way to feel strong, even if it doesn’t last long.
