Animal Collective just dropped a brand new song for 2025.
This fresh track, called “Love on the Big Screen,” was cooked up by Avey Tare with Adam McDaniel from Drop of Sun Studios, and there’s another tune called “Buddies on the Blackboard” tagging along as a B-side, but nobody’s heard that one yet because it’s still under wraps. Both songs are landing together on a 7-inch vinyl, set to arrive on August 1 through Domino—kind of a cool summer surprise. If you’re curious, you can already check out “Love on the Big Screen” right now.

Last year was a busy one for them too, since they brought back Sung Tongs for its 20th birthday, putting out a special edition and even sharing a live version called Sung Tongs Live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. Before that, in 2023, they released Isn’t It Now?, which was their latest studio album. Oh, and in March, Panda Bear went solo for a bit and released his own album called Sinister Grift.
Fans think it’s awesome when bands keep surprising everyone with new stuff.
Sometimes, it feels like music news comes out of nowhere, like a cat jumping onto a laptop during a Zoom call.
