Beverly Glenn-Copeland Diagnosed With Dementia

At 80, Beverly Glenn-Copeland revealed he has dementia.

He shared this news with his wife and creative partner, Elizabeth Glenn-Copeland, and mentioned that their upcoming tour would be their last. The list of final shows is below.

“We want to challenge the mainstream image of this illness, which focuses on loss. We are actively asking the universe to show us where the life is here,” said Glenn-Copeland about his diagnosis. “I want to thank Elizabeth for her unending caregiving and support, and for the brilliance of her creative vision, which has often gone unnoticed. It’s because of her that I’m still able to join you onstage for this tour, which will be my last.”

Glenn-Copeland’s music career spans folk, avant-jazz, ambient sounds, and more. His 1986 album Keyboard Fantasies got rediscovered in 2016, leading to a creative revival. In 2023, he released The Ones Ahead, his first new album in two decades. His work was also featured in a compilation called Transmissions, along with a documentary titled Keyboard Fantasies.
