Big Thief just dropped two fresh tracks from their next album, Double Infinity.
The new songs, “Los Angeles” and “Grandmother” (which features Laraaji), dive into different feelings—one explores how relationships can shift from romance to friendship, and the other looks at family love and the tough stuff that gets passed down through generations. “Grandmother” is actually the first time Big Thief wrote a song as a trio, since Max Oleartchik left the group. If you want to hear them, scroll down for the tracks.
Double Infinity will be released on September 5 through 4AD. Last winter, the band made the album in New York, gathering a big crew of friends and musicians like Alena Spanger, June McDoom, Mikey Buishas, Caleb Michel, and even more. This will be their sixth album, coming after 2022’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You.
Fans are super excited to see what this new era brings.
Soon, Big Thief will hit the road to play these new songs live, traveling all over North America from September 17 until November 7.
Oh, and by the way, “Vampire Empire” landed at No. 44 on the list of the best songs of the 2020s so far—pretty cool, right?
