Blood Orange Taps Lorde, Caroline Polachek, Brendan Yates for New Album Essex Honey

Devonté Hynes just revealed his new Blood Orange album, Essex Honey, which is the first one since 2018.

This time, he did all the writing, producing, and recording for the project, but there are a lot of friends helping out, like Lorde, Caroline Polachek, Daniel Caesar, Mustafa, Brendan Yates, Tariq Al-Sabir, Ian Isiah, Tirzah, Eva Tolkin, Kelly Zutrau from Wet, Liam Benzvi, Amandla Stenberg, Naomi Scott, and even Zadie Smith. The announcement dropped with two fresh tracks: “Somewhere in Between” and “Mind Loaded.” Caroline Polachek, Lorde, and Mustafa show up on “Mind Loaded,” which is pretty cool. You can check out both new songs and see the Essex Honey cover art right now.

The album is coming out on August 29 through RCA. Recently, Hynes has been busy working with Lorde and Turnstile on their music, too. Not long ago, he dropped the first single, “The Field,” and let everyone know he’s going on tour.

Fans think it’s awesome when artists team up with so many different people.

After Negro Swan, Hynes put out a mixtape called Angel’s Pulse and an EP named Four Songs. He’s also made soundtracks for movies and shows like Mainstream, In Treatment, and Master Gardener. Sometimes, it feels like he never stops making music, and honestly, who knows when he sleeps?
