Bob Dylan is releasing a huge 27-CD set from his 1974 tour with the Band, arriving on September 20.
This collection, Bob Dylan – The 1974 Live Recordings, includes an astonishing 431 songs, with 417 of them being brand new to fans. Also included are notes by journalist Elizabeth Nelson. Today, you can listen to a live version of “Forever Young,” recorded in Seattle on February 9, 1974. Check it out below.
Out of all these tracks, they’ve mixed 133 songs from the original tapes. Besides the CD set, Third Man Records will release The 1974 Live Recordings – The Missing Songs From Before the Flood. This vinyl set has every song that didn’t make it onto Dylan’s live album Before the Flood. You can get this special edition through Third Man’s Vault service.
This release marks half a century since Dylan returned to performing after an eight-year break due to a motorcycle accident in ’66. He reunited with the Band for this memorable tour that started on January 3 at Chicago Stadium and lasted for over a month.
I think it’s amazing how music can bring people together even after so many years.
Recently, Bob joined Willie Nelson at his July 4th concert and will be touring with Willie & Family until September.
