Brian Eno and Beatie Wolfe are getting ready to share another album together after dropping Lateral and Luminal back in June.
On October 10, their new project called Liminal arrives, with 11 songs waiting to be heard by everyone, thanks to Verve. You can already check out two tracks—“The Last to Know” and “Ringing Ocean”—which are out now to listen to below.
In their own words, Eno and Wolfe described the new record: “Liminal stands at the point of convergence between Lateral and Luminal,” they said. “If Lateral is a kind of landscape painting, a sonic place, Luminal is a dreamlike awakening, a feeling space. Liminal, the newest addition, is a hybrid of the two, a strange new land with a human living and feeling its way through its mysterious spaces.”
Sometimes people just want music that makes them feel like they’re in a brand-new world.
The artists also mentioned that Liminal sits on the edge of what’s a song and what’s not (they even call the non-song a “nong”), letting listeners wander through a weird, personal, and still-unknown audio universe.
