For years, the Compton DJ, singer, and producer known as Channel Tres has been on the grind. Dropping singles and EPs, he’s been crafting his sound, waiting for the right moment. Now, it seems, that moment has arrived. He’s gearing up to drop his debut studio album, and the excitement is palpable.
The album, titled Head Rush, is set to hit the shelves on June 14. It’s coming out under the banner of RCA, a label that’s no stranger to nurturing talent. Alongside this announcement, Channel Tres has blessed us with a new track, “Berghain,” a collab with Barney Bones. It’s the lead single off the album, and it’s got people talking.
“It’s about the time I played Berghain and how the culture in that environment made me feel, I didn’t feel weird anymore,” Channel Tres shared in a press release. The song, named after the iconic Berlin nightclub, captures a moment of liberation and unity through music. It’s a memory he wants to keep alive, to relive every time he performs.
Channel Tres first burst onto the scene in 2018 with the Godmode single “Controller.” That track, along with “Jet Black” and “Glide,” showcased his unique blend of sounds on his debut EP. Since then, he’s not slowed down, releasing another EP, Black Moses, in 2019. His discography has grown, including projects like I Can’t Go Outside, Refresh, and Real Cultural Shit.
Each release has built on the last, showing off Channel Tres’s evolving style and his knack for creating beats that stick with you. It’s been a journey of growth, experimentation, and, most importantly, music that moves people. With Head Rush on the horizon, it feels like we’re about to witness a new chapter for Channel Tres. One that, if the lead single is anything to go by, promises to be his most compelling yet.
