Love Is Not Enough, Converge’s brand new album, is dropping on February 13, released with Deathwish Inc. and Epitaph Records.
After almost nine whole years without a solo album, the four main members—Jacob Bannon, Kurt Ballou, Nate Newton, and Ben Koller—are finally back, pushing out something that isn’t a team-up like Bloodmoon: I. This time, no guests, just straight-up Converge, experimenting and mixing punk, hardcore, and metal again. Their first track off the album, the title one, is about how hard it can be to show kindness when the world feels so cold, and they even dropped a wild music vid for it.
Bannon shared, “It does a thing that no other Converge record does—it keeps ramping up. And that’s definitely by design. Internally, we passed around dozens of ideas for sequencing because everyone interprets music differently and there’s no right way of doing it. When we do that, we always joke that we all have to be equally unhappy. But this is the one that works.”
We always wonder how four people can stay so creative after all this time—35 years, like, that’s older than the internet, right?
Sometimes fans get a kick out of seeing how album tracklists look like secret codes or video game levels. This is what’s packed into Love Is Not Enough:
