Eminem has revealed that his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), will drop on Friday, July 12.
He recently brought out a single called “Houdini,” and just today, he released another track named “Tobey.”
Back in May, Eminem hinted at this album by publishing an obituary for Slim Shady in the Detroit Free Press. It mentioned how Slim Shady started as a rebellious figure in Detroit’s underground rap scene during the mid-to-late ’90s. The obituary said that with his 1999 hit “My Name Is,” both the song and its quirky video made him famous. But it also showed people his dark side and led fans into a bleak world.
The obituary continued:
Eminem’s first EP, Slim Shady EP, came out in December 1997. By February 1999, he had released The Slim Shady LP, which included hits like “Just Don’t Give a Fuck” and “My Name Is.” This album largely showcased Slim Shady’s character. In 2019, for its 20th anniversary, Eminem put out an expanded version of The Slim Shady LP. Then in 2020, he worked with Kid Cudi on “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.”
I think it’s amazing how music can evolve over time.
Eminem’s journey has been wild!
