On Wednesday, September 11, Eminem will kick off the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards with a performance at Long Island’s UBS Arena.
This marks his first TV appearance since dropping The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in July. It’s his second time opening the VMAs; back in 2010, he started with “Not Afraid” and then teamed up with Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie.” With eight nominations this year for awards like Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Song of the Summer for “Houdini,” he might just surpass Phil Collins as the most-awarded artist in VMA history.
The last time Eminem performed at the VMAs was in 2022 when an NFT company showcased avatars of him and Snoop Dogg to a virtual audience. Before that, he rocked out with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg in 2012 with hits like “Forgot About Dre” and “Still D.R.E.”
Fans often wonder what surprises artists will bring to live performances!
This year’s lineup also includes Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Glorilla, Camila Cabello, Rauw Alejandro, and Katy Perry—who’s getting the Video Vanguard Award. Megan Thee Stallion will be hosting.
