Emmys 2025: Christopher Lennertz Wins Best Original Music for The Boys

Christopher Lennertz just snagged his very first Emmy for writing “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” from The Boys.

This win happened at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, and he was up against some big names like Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez for their song from Agatha All Along, Nicholas Britell and Tony Gilroy’s tune from Andor, the hilarious Adam Sandler and Dan Bulla with their “Adam Sandler’s Song: 50 Years” from SNL50: The Anniversary Special, plus Sean Douglas, Kristen Wiig, and Josh Greenbaum for “Harper and Will Go West” from Will & Harper. Lennertz had been nominated two times before, but this is the first time he actually won.

There are other categories for music at the Emmys, but don’t get them mixed up—Theodore Shapiro got the prize for Severance in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series area, and Mick Giacchino took home the trophy for The Penguin in the limited series or movie category.

Fans think it’s really cool when musicians from totally different genres all get nominated for the same award.

This year, the list of nominees was packed with famous musicians. Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kamasi Washington, Caroline Shaw, Hamilton Leithauser, Mark Ronson, Hans Zimmer, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Questlove were all in the running for Emmys. Kendrick Lamar even grabbed his second Emmy last week, winning for Outstanding Music Direction for The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar, which got seven nominations in total.

Sometimes, the Emmys have so many categories that it’s easy to get dizzy just trying to remember which award is for what.
