First Posthumous SOPHIE Album Announced

A new album by SOPHIE is coming out soon.

The record, produced by SOPHIE and Benny Long, will be released on September 27 through Transgressive and Future Classic. The first single, “Reason Why,” features BC Kingdom and Kim Petras. You can listen to it below.

In January 2021, SOPHIE tragically passed away at age 34 after an accidental fall in Athens, Greece. She had only one studio album during her lifetime, Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides, which came out in June 2018 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album the following year.

Since her passing, not much of SOPHIE’s music has been shared. Some of the few pieces available include a collaboration with Jlin called “Jsloipnhie” and some production work for Hyd and Basside.

I think it’s amazing how music can live on even after someone is gone.

SOPHIE was almost done with this new album before she died, according to a press release. This album is being described as the last one we’ll ever get from her.
