Game: First Trailer for Geoff Barrow’s New Film Starring Jason Williamson Released

Geoff Barrow just finished making his very first movie called Game, and he worked on it with John Minton, who’s also from Bristol.

This thriller, which is set during the wild UK rave days of 1993, features Jason Williamson from Sleaford Mods and Marc Bessant, and after showing up at Mayhem Film Festival in Nottingham on October 16, it’s heading to theaters across the UK and Ireland starting November 21. If you want a sneak peek, the trailer is out now, and you can also check out a cool image from the film and the official Game poster down below.

Years ago, Barrow was already chatting about this movie idea online, even mentioning it on Twitter (back when it was still called that), and he once tried to get Russell Crowe interested by publicly pitching to him, which is kind of hilarious. When Barrow told everyone he was leaving Beak>, he said it was partly because he wanted to make movies instead. “John [Minton] and I have worked together for over 20 years on music projects (Portishead and Invada music videos) and have always talked about making a feature together, the same goes for Marc [Bessant] who I’ve worked closely with for many years. I’ve been a fan of Jason Williamson’s work, same with Rob [Williams, screenwriter], through 2000AD, and we’ve been writing film ideas together for the last few years.” He also mentioned he’s got two more movies coming up, which is pretty exciting.

Fans think it’s cool when musicians try new things like making films.

Barrow has already worked on a bunch of movie music with Ben Salisbury, like for Ex Machina, Civil War, Annihilation, and even an episode of Black Mirror. Sleaford Mods just dropped a new track called “Megaton” to help War Child, which is awesome.
