Hayley Williams just dropped her latest solo album, and it’s called Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.
All the songs she put out this summer are included, plus there’s a fresh bonus track named “Parachute.” The album is streaming everywhere now, but if you want a CD or vinyl, you’ll have to wait until November 7—her own label, Post Atlantic, is handling it, with Secretly Distribution helping out. After her two-decade deal with Atlantic, Williams finally gets to do things her way.
She already made a music video for the title song, and now there’s another one for “Glum,” directed by AJ Gibboney and Zac Farro. You can watch it below. Most of the music on the album was written, played, and recorded by Williams and Daniel James, but Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard added their magic too. There’s also Jim-E Stack, who helped out with “True Believer.”
Fans think it’s cool when artists start their own labels because it feels more personal.
Way back in 2020, Hayley stepped out on her own with Petals for Armor, her first solo album. Later that year, she put out a short three-song EP called Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades, and then in 2021, she released Flowers for Vases / Descansos. She once said that album was “a prequel, or some sort of detour between parts 1 and 2 of Petals.” After all that, Paramore made their fifth album, This Is Why, which came out in 2023.
