Jeff Parker and his band, ETA IVtet, will release a new album called The Way Out of Easy on November 22.
This album is a collection of four long jazz pieces that were all made up on the spot, adding up to 80 minutes of music. The first song from this album you can listen to is “Late Autumn.” It comes with a cool video showing toy sculptures that Mikel Patrick Avery made himself. You can watch it below.
The group—Parker on guitar, Johnson playing saxophone, Butterss on double bass, and Bellerose at the drums—got their name from a bar in Los Angeles where they used to perform every week until it shut down last December. Their previous work, Mondays at Enfield Tennis Academy, was put together from different recordings done at this place in 2022. But unlike that one, the new album was created and mixed live during just one night in January 2023.
People sometimes wonder how musicians come up with such creative ideas so quickly!
