Jennifer Castle Announces New Album, Shares New Song Video

Jennifer Castle is gearing up to release her seventh album, Camelot, on November 1 through Paradise of Bachelors.

She’s just dropped a new song called “Lucky #8,” featuring Cass McCombs on slide guitar and Jeff McMurrich on lead guitar. The music video is a nostalgic compilation of classic gymnastics routines from Castle’s childhood, showcasing Lavinia Milosovici, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, and Nadia Comanici. You can watch it below and find the album artwork and tracklist further down.

Castle described “Lucky #8” as having an energetic vibe that tries to capture all life’s possibilities in one moment: "It attempts a stunt lyrically (in my mind) to absorb all the possibilities of life into one moment and to be okay with that complexity, instead of fracturing off into myriad neurotic narratives."

Before this, she released “Blowing Kisses” in June. This song was featured in the second-to-last episode of The Bear‘s third season.

Fans think it’s cool when artists share their inspirations like this.

For Camelot, Castle worked with McMurrich and McCombs again. Owen Pallett also came back to arrange strings performed by Estonia’s Fames Skopje Studio Orchestra. Other musicians involved include Carl Didur on piano and keyboards, Evan Cartwright on drums and percussion, Mike Smith on bass, Paul Mortimer on guitar, as well as backing vocalists Victoria Cheong and Isla Craig.

Her last album was Monarch Season, which came out in 2020.
