I’ve admired him for almost 20 years. When I started writing these songs, Sufjan was the first person who came to mind to produce them. His music is so dreamy and whimsical, full of character—exactly what I wanted for a children’s album. Combining my songwriting with his production felt like the perfect match. You can really hear his touch throughout the album, and I adore it.
I was thrilled when he agreed because you never know if someone will be interested in making a children’s album with you, especially since we had never collaborated or even met before this project.
