Katy Perry’s new album, 143, is coming out on September 20 through Capitol.
This will be her first album since she released Smile back in August 2020. In a press release, Katy mentioned that she aimed to make an energetic dance-pop album with the theme of love, symbolized by the numbers 143. Check out the cover art below.
The first single from 143, called “Woman’s World,” will be available tomorrow (July 11). Katy teamed up with Chloe Angelides to write it and had help from producers like Dr. Luke, Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Did It Again!, and Aaron Joseph.
Katy has created some of her most famous hits—like “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot n Cold,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “California Gurls,” and “Roar”—with Dr. Luke. However, they didn’t collaborate on Smile or her 2017 album Witness. This change happened after Kesha accused Dr. Luke of assaulting her. He denied these claims, and they ended their legal fight just last year.
I think it’s amazing how artists can reinvent themselves over time.
