Katy Perry to Receive MTV VMAs 2024 Vanguard Award

Katy Perry is set to receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV VMAs next month.

She’ll also perform a mix of her top songs during the September 11 event, airing live from UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Last year, Shakira took home this award, joining past winners like Niki Minaj, BeyoncĂ©, Madonna, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, and Britney Spears.

Last month saw Perry release her comeback single “Woman’s World” along with news about her upcoming album 143. Just last week she dropped another track called “Lifetimes.” Her new album 143, dropping on September 20th, will be her first since Smile in 2020.

Perry first graced the MTV VMAs stage back in 2009 with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry for a rendition of “We Will Rock You.” She snagged three Moon Person trophies in 2011 thanks to “E.T.” featuring Kanye West and her hit song “Firework.” The last time fans saw Katy at the VMAs was in 2017 when she hosted and performed “Swish Swish” with Nicki Minaj.

Fans really love seeing their favorite stars shine on such big nights.

Earlier this month, we got the full list of nominees for the 2024 VMAs. Taylor Swift leads with ten nominations while Post Malone follows closely behind with nine. Other artists like Ariana Grande, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, and Olivia Rodrigo have multiple nods too. Sabrina Carpenter is up for six awards as a first-time nominee!

Performers lined up for this year’s show include Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, Glorilla Rauw Alejandro and Sabrina Carpenter. More names will be revealed soon.
