KeiyaA Releases New Song Stupid Prizes with Official Video

KeiyaA just dropped a brand new track after a long break.

This latest single, called “Stupid Prizes”, comes after “Camille’s Daughter” from 2022, and there’s a black-and-white video for it, too, which KeiyaA made with Caity Arthur. She shared, “I wrote, recorded, and produced ‘Stupid Prizes’ all in one sitting, at home late at night in my living room in Brooklyn.” That sounds like such a cozy vibe, honestly.

She mentioned that she took a sample from Percy Faith, who’s famous for fancy orchestral music and those big, dramatic show tunes. KeiyaA wanted the song to sound dreamy and pretty, but with lyrics about feeling bad, so it’s got this weird mix of happy music and sad words. She said, “I sought out to create this sort of bed of irony, to speak and sing about being miserable on top of this beautiful, dreamy, and romantic music. Which speaks not only to what it can feel like navigating my internal and external worlds, but also what it feels like being a marginalized person in America.”

Fans think it’s cool when artists mix happy sounds with tough feelings.

KeiyaA’s first album, Forever, Ya Girl, came out in 2020 and people really liked it. She also showed off her first full-length stage show, Milk Thot, at the Abrons Arts Center in New York earlier this year, and rumor has it she’s got another album coming in 2025.
