On May 22, Kid Cudi was called to testify in court about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Back in 2011, Kid Cudi and Cassie started hanging out for a short while, and that really set Diddy off, according to what was said in court; not long after, Cudi’s Porsche was blown up with a Molotov cocktail, which is now a big part of the legal case against Diddy, who is being accused of running a criminal ring for about twenty years. “We were friends and dated briefly,” Cudi explained on the stand, making sure people knew that Cassie and Diddy weren’t together at that time and that things between Cassie and Diddy were rocky. Cudi told the court that Cassie once called him early in the morning, sounding scared, saying Diddy had found out about them and she was worried because he was “abusive” and she didn’t know what he might do next.
Fans sometimes wonder how celebrities deal with all this drama.
Cudi described rushing to get Cassie and bringing her to a hotel so she’d feel safer. Later, one of Diddy’s workers, Capricorn Clark, called Cudi almost crying, telling him that Diddy was at Cudi’s house in the Hollywood Hills. Cudi sped home, called Diddy, and asked, “Motherfucker, are you in my house?” Diddy supposedly just said, “I just want to talk to you.” But when Cudi got there, he found his house all messed up—security cameras were moved, fancy gifts for his family were opened, and his dog was locked up and super nervous. Cudi said he wanted to fight Diddy, but instead, he called the police and filed a report because it looked like someone had broken in.
During the holidays, when Cudi was with Cassie’s family in Connecticut, Diddy texted him, wanting to talk. Cudi replied, “You broke into my house, you messed with my dog, I don’t want to talk with you.” After that, Cudi and Cassie stopped seeing each other.
After Cassie filed her lawsuit in 2023, Cudi’s lawyer confirmed the story about his car getting blown up was actually true, but this was the first time Cudi talked about it in public. Diddy says he didn’t do any of it and that he had nothing to do with the fire, but the court is still figuring it all out.
