Lifeguard Releases New Song Ministry Energie

Lifeguard, a post-punk band from Chicago, just released two new tracks: “Ministry / Energie” and their take on Wipers’ 1980 hit “Telepathic Love.”

These songs were recorded in LA with Randy Randall from No Age. You can listen to them online now, but they’ll also be available on a 7″ vinyl starting October 25 through Matador.

Next weekend is going to be exciting as Lifeguard will be performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. On the same day, you can catch Jamie xx, Carly Rae Jepsen, Unwound, De La Soul, Bratmobile, Wednesday, Hotline TNT and many more. And yes, tickets are still up for grabs!

I think music festivals are so much fun because you get to see so many bands in one place.

Last year was big for Lifeguard; they released Dressed in Trenches, which has five songs and combined it with their Crowd Can Talk EP from 2022. They even collaborated with Horsegirl—Penelope Lowenstein’s band—to cover Stone Roses’ “I Wanna Be Adored.” By the way, Penelope is Isaac Lowenstein’s older sister.
