So Close to Heaven is the newest live album from Los Campesinos!, recorded over two nights at London’s Troxy back in February.
Surrounded by the sounds of Holly Carpenter’s violin, Blossom Caldarone playing cello, and horns from Emma Johnson, Ewan Whyte, and Viva Msimang, the band filled the venue with a whole new energy, while Paul Rattcliff and Mathew Acreman handled the recording, Gareth Bodman worked on the mix, and Andrei Eremin made sure it all sounded just right. If you want to check out a bit of the album, you can listen below. Right now, you’ll only find So Close to Heaven (Live at Troxy) on Bandcamp or the band’s own website, but by August 27, it’ll show up on lots of other streaming apps.
Last year, Los Campesinos! made a big return with All Hell, their first record since 2017, and then they dropped an EP called More Hell soon after.
Fans think it’s awesome to see them back and sharing new music again.
Sometimes, when bands play live with extra musicians, the songs feel way bigger and almost like a party.
