Mal Devisa Returns With New Palimpsesa Compilation

Mal Devisa just shared news about a fresh anthology called Palimpsesa.

This new album brings together 29 tracks, mixing early songs by Deja Carr with some tunes no one’s heard before, all cleaned up and sounding better than ever. If you want a taste, “Old Intro” and “Skyline Arms-Reach Out” are back again after first showing up on Wisdom Teeth in 2021. The name Palimpsesa actually comes from “palimpsest,” which means old writing that’s been erased and written over, kind of like how these songs have been reworked and given new life.

Inside, you’ll find songs from the For Daisy Honey and 4U EPs from 2014, plus tracks from Kiid (2016) and even some from Shade and the Little Creature (2018). There’s a lot to dig into, and everything has been remastered, so it feels like opening a treasure chest full of music memories.

People sometimes wish they could hear their favorite artists’ old songs in a new way.

If you’re counting down the days, Palimpsesa drops on July 30, thanks to Topshelf, who also brought back Kiid in 2022. The tracklist is packed—there’s “You Are My Sunshine,” “Next Stop,” “Icarus/Breakthrough,” and “Vicious Nonbeliever,” to name a few. Then, there are songs like “Crowd Pleaser,” “The Room Is Spinning,” and “Contracts,” as well as “Fire,” “To Be Unwilling,” and “Rum.” Even more pop up: “O Ivory,” “Sunrise,” “Forest,” and “Raw as the Hands of the Sun.”

Sometimes, when listening to albums like this, we find songs we never knew we needed.
