Milan Records just dropped the soundtrack for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, the new movie with Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.
This album is packed with Joe Hisaishi’s magical music, which is wild because it’s his first time making a score for a Hollywood film, even though he’s super famous for all the Studio Ghibli stuff, like The Boy and the Heron last year.
There are four songs by Laufey on the soundtrack, but only one, “The Risk,” is totally new—she wrote it just for this movie after the director, Kogonada, asked her, and she worked on it with Spencer Stewart, who also helped her on A Matter of Time.
Plus, Mitski sings a cover of Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door,” and it’s honestly so cool to hear her voice on that track.
Fans think it’s awesome when artists do something unexpected like this.
