Naeem Revives Spank Rock with New Song Bankroll Peelers

Naeem just dropped a fresh track called “Bankroll Peelers,” and this time, he’s teamed up with his old Spank Rock side.

With help from Sam Greens, Noah Beresin, and Matti Free on the beats, plus Matt Helders singing on the chorus, the song really mixes things up in a cool way. Naeem decided to bring Spank Rock back into the picture, not just as a memory but as a real part of the music, making the song feel wild and unpredictable.

“Spank Rock is the Goat! Actually, he’s not the goat; he’s a Coyote, Monkey, Loki, or Eshu. Instead of feeling at odds creatively with my past and where I want to go, I invited my younger self back into the room. Spank Rock’s ephemeral energy rearranged the order of things. Personally, I feel like I’m more risk-adverse than Spank Rock is. It’s fun to work with someone who doesn’t care how people perceive him. I would love for music to be surprising again.”

Fans sometimes wish artists would just do something totally weird, just for fun.

If you’re around Los Angeles this Thursday, August 14, you can catch the release party at Silverlake Lounge, where Naeem is going to perform as Spank Rock, do a DJ set, and share the stage with Noah Beresin, Gloworm, Glassface, and Mucky. That sounds like a party where you might see someone wearing socks with sandals and nobody would even blink.

By the way, Naeem’s only album since leaving Spank Rock, Startisha, came out in 2020, which feels like forever ago but was actually not that long if you think about it.
