The Sword & the Soaring is on its way, and Navy Blue will share it on November 11 through Freedom Sounds.
Instead of just dropping another album, Navy Blue grabbed a beat from Child Actor for the first track, “Orchards,” and there’s even a new music video directed by Maxi Hachem that feels slow and thoughtful. While making this record, Navy Blue said, “Child Actor has been a guiding light and force for me and my creative process.” The beat originally had the name “Orchard,” just like “Low Threshold,” and Navy Blue seems to think these beat names shape the music’s mood in a magical way. Looking at it through his eyes, he describes, “This time with the warm glow of a winter sun piercing through the clouds. I visualized an apple orchard melting into a singular vanishing point, and began to write. Thousands of individual trees bearing fruit, connected through soil and roots, with an expansiveness that resembles the infinite source.”
Fans sometimes just want music that feels like a hug from a friend.
It’s sort of wild how a name like “Orchard” can turn into such a deep picture in your head, like rows and rows of apple trees, all leading to forever—makes you want to go pick fruit or just stare at clouds. Music does this weird thing where beats and words connect like tree roots under the ground.
