Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are making the music for a new TV show based on Cave’s book, The Death of Bunny Munro.
This six-part series, which will stream on Sky later this year, has Matt Smith as both producer and lead actor, but there’s no official release date yet; however, on October 30, people can catch a sneak peek with two episodes and a chat with Cave and Smith at the London Literature Festival in the Royal Festival Hall.
Smith, who you probably know from House of the Dragon and Doctor Who, steps into the shoes of Bunny Munro, a salesman who hits the road with his kid, all while struggling with his wife’s death and his own wild habits. The story for TV comes from Pete Jackson, and Isabella Eklöf is directing this time.
Fans sometimes wonder what it’s like to write music for a show instead of an album.
For the soundtrack, Cave and Ellis worked in London with Luis Almau, their favorite engineer; not too long ago, they also did the score for the Amy Winehouse movie and made a new Bad Seeds album called Wild God.
