Nintendo is finally letting everyone in the U.S. get their hands on the official Breath of the Wild soundtrack, and collectors are celebrating.
Forget hunting for rare imports now because this new 8xLP box set, dropping June 19, takes things up several notches—with Nintendo even breaking its usual rules by releasing a physical game soundtrack outside of Japan for the first time ever. Multiple vinyl versions are on offer: an epic box with eight records featuring blue/gold splatters, gorgeous game-inspired art on each sleeve, plus an ultra-blue case to show off, or a simpler 2xLP edition if you like to keep it chill. Containing 130 tracks all carefully remastered, you’re getting the full musical adventure created by Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, Hajime Wakai, and Soshi Abe.
Before this announcement, owning Zelda music meant you had to order it from Japan or just listen on Nintendo’s streaming app (if you paid for Switch’s Online membership). Now, everyone’s wish-list just got shorter.
Fans always dream about owning beautiful game music they can hold in their hands.
It’s funny—sometimes people talk about orchestrated soundtracks and forget that listening on vinyl makes the whole world sound different, kinda warm but a little scratchy too. Weirdly, my cat once sat on my records and acted like she had solved the puzzle of Hyrule.
