Pavement have dropped a brand new best-of album called Hecklers Choice: Big Gums and Heavy Lifters, and fans can listen to it right now.
Everyone who loves collecting music will get a chance to own physical copies on November 14, the same day the vinyl and CD for their quirky movie soundtrack, Pavements, also land in stores. This film, put together by Alex Ross Perry, mixes a bunch of styles: there’s documentary stuff, some scenes that feel like a biopic, and even bits that seem made up just for laughs. Down below, you can stream the album and watch a live version of “Grounded” that happened at the Fonda Theatre in LA.
It’s kind of wild that Hecklers Choice is only their second greatest hits collection, especially since the last one, Quarantine the Past, came out way back in 2010. This time, the tracklist has those newer songs that everyone’s obsessed with, like “Harness Your Hopes,” which blew up on TikTok after Spotify kept tossing it into playlists. If you want the vinyl or CD, you can already start pre-ordering them.
The soundtrack for Pavements (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is also up for grabs. The band and Robert Greene (he produced and edited the movie) put it together, and it’s kind of a crazy mix: live jams and practice takes from their 2021 reunion, some weird conversations pulled from the movie, fake scenes from a made-up Oscar movie called Range Life, and even songs from the Slanted! Enchanted! musical.
Fans think it’s cool when bands put together all these different things in one place.

Sometimes, I wonder if bands just have fun messing with us by mixing real and fake stuff!
