Paz Lenchantin Announces Debut Solo Album & Releases Hang Tough Video

Paz Lenchantin is stepping out on her own with a brand-new solo record called Triste.

After leaving Pixies, where she sang and played bass for a whole decade, Paz decided it was finally time to create her own music, working with Josh Freese on drums and Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar—both friends from her A Perfect Circle days. She didn’t just sing; she also took charge of the video for the first single, “Hang Tough,” which you can watch below. Mixing the album was Chris Coady, and everything is coming out on her own label, Hideous Human Records, on October 17.

“I had to make this record on my own,” Paz explained about Triste, “not to prove anything, but just to have faith that music can nurture me back. And it did.” She helped create albums like Head Carrier, Beneath the Eyrie, and Doggerel with Pixies, but this time, it’s all her vision.

Sometimes, fans wish they could make something all by themselves too.

Here’s the tracklist for Triste:
01 Novela
02 Lows & Highs
03 Woman of Nazareth
04 Hang Tough
05 Wish I Was There
06 Si No!
07 In the Garden With the Devil
08 Adam
09 Lucia
10 Sin Dios
11 Save It for Hell
12 Triste

The album title means “sad” in Spanish, but the music might surprise you and isn’t always what you expect. Sometimes, I wonder what Paz eats for breakfast—maybe pancakes, maybe not.
