Paz Lenchantin Song Removed Online After Plagiarism Allegations

Paz Lenchantin shared that she was coming out with a solo album called Triste back in August.

Not long after, people on Reddit and YouTube pointed out that her first single, “Hang Tough,” sounded a lot like the Brazilian song “Cálice” by Chico Buarque and Milton Nascimento. Turns out, Buarque and Gilberto Gil (who also wrote “Cálice”) noticed it too, and in August, they sent in a formal complaint saying Lenchantin copied their song. According to Folha de S. Paulo, this happened pretty quickly after the single dropped.

Now, if you try to find “Hang Tough” online, it’s just gone—streaming platforms don’t have it, and the album’s song list has switched out the track for something else. People were kind of surprised by how fast things changed.

Fans wonder if this kind of thing happens more often than we think.

Someone asked Lenchantin about it, but she didn’t want to say anything. Her record label, Hideous Human, is still planning to release Triste on October 17, which is actually tomorrow.
