Primal Scream have returned with a brand-new album called Come Ahead, their first in almost a decade.
Dropping on November 8 through BMG, the album kicks off with the track “Love Insurrection,” which you can listen to below. Bobby Gillespie shared his excitement about this release, comparing it to making their debut record. He mentioned that Come Ahead explores themes of conflict and compassion. The title is inspired by a Glaswegian phrase used when someone challenges you to a fight, capturing the fierce spirit of Glasgow folks—what they call “gallus.” It’s also meant to be cheeky.
The LP was produced by David Holmes, who previously worked with them on 2013’s More Light. This is their first project since Martin Duffy passed away in 2022; he had been part of every album since Screamadelica, though he had distanced himself from the band due to some rights issues.
I think it’s amazing how bands can reinvent themselves over time.
