On May 20, Rod Wave landed in jail in Georgia, facing a long list of charges.
After police said there was a fight at his place on April 21, Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, ended up with 14 different counts against him, like aggravated assault, having a gun, and even aiming it at someone else, plus things like reckless conduct and messing with evidence. The story goes that after a break-in, Rod and his realtors came back, and then things got heated—TMZ says a pistol was fired 14 times during the argument. Most of those bullets hit a friend’s brand new Mercedes G Wagon, one hit Rod’s own Rolls-Royce, another went through his wall, and the last bullet is still missing, according to what the police said. He got out of jail pretty quick after paying a $50,000 bond.
Fans can’t help but wonder how this keeps happening.
Rod Wave’s lawyers, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, said, “There is no truth to these charges.” They also added, “Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favorably to Mr. Green.”
Not the first time he’s been in trouble; just last month, he was arrested in Florida for having a weapon or ammo, but it turned out the cops had the wrong info and let him go, Billboard reported.
Back in 2022, things got messy again when Rod was accused of choking his ex-girlfriend until she couldn’t breathe, which led to a felony charge. The arrest warrant said he was upset because she was “talking to other men while they were broke up.” His lawyer, Bradford M. Cohen, called the whole thing “a misunderstanding between a Girlfriend and Boyfriend.” That case was dropped.
Sometimes, real life sounds wilder than any song.
