Sabrina Carpenter is about to take on movies, both acting in and producing a brand-new musical inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Universal Pictures is running with this new project, led by Lorene Scafaria—she’s writing and directing, and people know her from Succession and films like Hustlers and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The movie’s title is still a total mystery, and there’s no word yet on when it’s coming out, but it’s got a solid team behind it, including Marc Platt and his crew, plus Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton from Alloy Entertainment.
Sometimes fans wish movie announcements came with more details, like trailers or even a single poster.
Meanwhile, Sabrina isn’t slowing down at all in music. Her album Man’s Best Friend (dropped last September) just landed her a whopping six Grammy nominations! That includes Song of the Year for “Manchild,” sharing the credit again with Jack Antonoff—same as last year when they were up for “Please Please Please.”
She’s also in for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Man’s Best Friend, and “Manchild” is up for Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Solo Performance. You can check the entire list of nominations (which is a lot to scroll through, by the way). The Grammy show kicks off February 1, broadcasting live on CBS, so get your popcorn ready.
