Scowl Unveils Album “Are We All Angels” with New Song Video

Scowl is gearing up to drop their second album, Are We All Angels, on April 4 with Dead Oceans.

The Santa Cruz group just released “Not Hell, Not Heaven” along with a video shot by Sean Stout at the famous 924 Gilman Street, where three Scowl members first crossed paths. You can watch it below.

Kat Moss, who leads Scowl, shared that the song talks about feeling like a victim but not wanting to be labeled as one. She said, “It’s trying to find grace in the fact that I have my power. I live in my reality. You have to deal with whatever you’re dealing with, and it ain’t working for me.”

After teaming up for last year’s Psychic Dance Routine EP, Scowl is once again collaborating with Will Yip for this new album. From what we’ve heard so far—“Not Hell, Not Heaven” and last year’s track “Special”—they seem to be leaning into a sound that’s more pop-punk and alt-rock than hardcore.

I think fans are really going to love this new direction!
