All Systems Are Lying, the next album from Soulwax, finally lands on October 17.
After a long seven-year break, David and Stephen Dewaele are back with a fresh project, dropping both the title song and “Run Free” as a sneak peek for everyone to hear. The brothers shared in a statement that their new work is “a rock album made without any electric guitars.” They explained, “We wanted to capture the feeling of a band playing electronic instruments—live, loud and loose. This record is the result of that experiment.” It’s kind of wild to imagine a rock vibe without one single guitar, but that’s what they’re doing.
Outside of Soulwax, these two keep busy as 2manydjs and also take care of their label, Deewee, which has put out music from Charlotte Adigéry, Bolis Pupul, Marie Davidson, and more. Sometimes, people get surprised by how much music comes from just two brothers.
Fans think it’s cool when artists try something different.
