Sound Talent Group Co-Founder Dave Shapiro Dies in San Diego Plane Crash

Dave Shapiro passed away after a Cessna 550 crashed in San Diego’s Tierrasanta area early on May 22, taking the lives of everyone on board, including Daniel Williams.

Homes nearby were hit hard by the accident, with about 10 houses getting damaged, said Dan Eddy, who helps lead the San Diego fire department. Officials are still trying to figure out what actually caused the plane to go down, The New York Times shared. Shapiro, who was 42, was known for helping launch Sound Talent Group in 2019 with Tim Borror and Matt Andersen, and he used to work at United Talent Agency before that.

Sound Talent Group said, “We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends,” and they also added, “Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”

He worked with a lot of bands and artists, like Pierce the Veil, Sum 41, Lamb of God, Ice Nine Kills, Vanessa Carlton, and Hanson. In 2020, he started the National Independent Talent Organization to help indie artists and agents.

Besides being an agent, Shapiro set up Velocity Records and also started Velocity Aviation, and their website says he first took to the skies in 2005.

Fans really hope everyone affected can find some peace.

Sometimes, when I hear about things like this, it makes me want to hug my friends a little tighter.
