Steve Lacy Releases New Song Nice Shoes

Steve Lacy has dropped a brand new track called “Nice Shoes”, marking his first release since 2022.

After a pretty long break, Lacy is back in action, sharing this fresh single that he both wrote and produced himself, and it’s out now with RCA Records. When chatting with Jeff Ihaza from Rolling Stone, Steve described the song as “a ‘trailer’ for this new moment in his career,” hinting that it’s just a taste of what’s coming next. There’s also talk about a new album, Oh Yeah?, and Steve said, “This one has taken a lot of time and thought.” He also mentioned, “I keep using the word ‘design.’ It feels like fully designing a new language for myself.”

Fans think it’s cool when artists try something totally different.

Before this, Steve’s album Gemini Rights won him a Grammy for Best Progressive R&B Album, and it included “Bad Habit,” which turned out to be his biggest hit so far. Sometimes, when you least expect it, a song just blows up and everyone’s singing it at school or in the car.
