Netflix just dropped a brand new sneak peek for the last season of Stranger Things.
The trailer really shows everyone bustling around—heading out from home, school, even the hospital—each of them on a determined mission, trying to wrap things up and not, y’know, die. It kind of feels like all the characters have this wild urge to fix what’s broken, but for a second, it seems almost messy, like real life does when you try to hurry through things. If you want, the video is down there for you to check out.
This time, the fifth season lands us in autumn, 1987, with everybody pretty freaked out about what those Rifts did to Hawkins. The cast isn’t wasting time—they’re all after Vecna, and it’s clear the real boss fight is about to happen. The story says, “Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.” To get out of this whole mess, every single friend needs to show up, even if they want to run away or forget. If they don’t stick together, truly dark stuff might take over. The words from the story go: “The final battle is looming—and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone—the full party—standing together, one last time.”
After what feels like a super long wait (three entire years of teasers, wow), the creators kicked off filming for season five early in 2024. This time, the story is split into three batches: the first four chapters land on November 26, right on a Wednesday; three more episodes follow at Christmas, which sort of makes it feel like a holiday show, and finally, everything wraps up with the grand finale on New Year’s Eve. All the episodes go live at 8 p.m. Eastern.
We can remember how the first season arrived in July 2016, and since then, those familiar faces switched things up outside the series—acting more, but also playing loads of music. Like, Joe Keery didn’t just act—he brought Djo to the charts and still did stuff with Post Animal. Maya Hawke put out new music too: her latest is Chaos Angel, from 2024. Then you’ve got Finn Wolfhard—probably the biggest crowd favorite—starting with Calpurnia, moving to work solo, and putting out Happy Birthday this year.
Fans can’t wait for all these episodes to drop, because honestly, it’s been way too long since the last new ones.
Someone also made a list called “Stranger Things, Here Are 6 Songs That Should Soundtrack Your Final Season.” Kind of weird how people always make playlists for everything now, right?
