Sugar Announce New York & London Concerts, Release First Song in 30 Years

Sugar is making music together again for the first time in over thirty years.

This time, Bob Mould, David Barbe, and Malcolm Travis are coming back with shows set for May 2026 in both London and New York, and they’ve also dropped a brand new track called “House of Dead Memories.” Mould admitted to Rolling Stone that this song is about a relationship gone wrong, which he says isn’t anything new for him, but he did mention, “the riff is definitely a Sugar-type riff, and it was fun to get the three of us on the floor together to record for the first time in ages.” You can check out the song below.

Back in 2011, Sugar almost got back together for their 20th anniversary, but it didn’t really click; Mould said, “we all walked away thinking, ‘Eh, not right now.’ At least for me, it was like, ‘I think I’m going to do what I’m doing.’” He kept working solo, even putting out Here We Go Crazy just this past March, but after another shot in the studio last year, the band decided it finally felt right.

Fans sometimes wonder if their favorite bands will ever play together again.

Now, whether Sugar does more shows or drops more songs depends on how people react to this comeback. Mould explained he doesn’t want to get ahead of himself: “People’s reactions will probably guide a lot of the possibilities in front of us, whether it’s more songs or more shows. All three of us are all in for whatever feels right. I just want to see if people are still interested.”

The new single comes from Granary Music/BMG, and there’s also a big 4xLP reissue of their first album, Copper Blue – The Singles Collection, coming out next month for Record Store Day.

Oh, and for anyone still loving Hüsker Dü, a live box set called 1985: The Miracle Year is dropping soon too.
