Tim Burton Directs Lady Gaga’s The Dead Dance Music Video

Lady Gaga has just released a brand-new track called “The Dead Dance,” and it comes with a music video directed by Tim Burton.

The video, shot in black and white, brings together Gaga and Burton’s spooky styles and also connects to Wednesday, where Jenna Ortega plays the famous character. In the video, you can catch hints that remind you of the Netflix show and the Addams Family vibe, which makes everything feel extra mysterious.

The song itself was created by Gaga, Andrew Watt, and Henry Walter, while production credits go to Gaga, Watt, and Cirkut. Gaga actually appears in Wednesday as Rosaline Rotwood, a teacher with white hair at Nevermore, after dropping hints about her role at the Netflix Tudum 2025 event. She even performed “Abracadabra” and “Zombieboy” there, mixing in the Addams Family theme, which was kind of awesome.

Fans think Gaga always finds a way to surprise everyone.

Back in March, Gaga dropped her first album in five years, Mayhem. She’s been super busy since then—she hosted and performed on Saturday Night Live, and she was the main act at Coachella 2025. Right now, her North American tour is happening, with concerts planned in New York, Toronto, and Chicago, and after that, she’s heading off to Europe and Australia. Sometimes, I wonder if she ever sleeps.

This weekend, Gaga will be on stage at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards. She’s up for 12 awards, which is more than anyone else this year, and two of those are for her song with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile”—one for Video of the Year and one for Song of the Year.
