Just before their new album Never Enough drops, Turnstile showed up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and performed two fresh tracks, “I Care” and “Dull.”
The band, surrounded by stripes on the walls, a soft pink rug, and even a photo of an old-school phone, kicked things off with “I Care”—which has a total 80s pop-rock mood—and everyone wore those big, chunky headphones from back in the day. When it was time for “Dull,” the whole stage turned red and the group started bouncing all over, matching the wild, glitchy sound of the song. The energy was kind of electric, honestly.
Never Enough is coming out this Friday, June 6, and it’s a big deal because it’s the first album since Turnstile got Grammy nods, and also the first one with Meg Mills on guitar since Brady Ebert left. Their last album, Glow On, was a huge hit, so people are super hyped for this one.
Fans think it’s awesome when bands change up their sound and add new members.
There’s also a companion movie called Turnstile: Never Enough that’s almost an hour long, directed by Brendan Yates and Pat McCrory, and it features music videos for all 14 songs—plus the singles like “Never Enough,” “Birds,” “Seein’ Stars,” and “Look Out for Me.” The film is going to be shown in theaters all around the country.
Tonight, Turnstile is meeting up with Lawrence Burney at AG Studios in New York to chat about their new zine and cover story, the work that went into it, and of course, the album. There’s even an RSVP link for anyone who wants to go, but it’s probably going to fill up fast.
