Tyler, the Creator once shouted out Timothée Chalamet in a song years ago, and now, out of nowhere, they’ve teamed up in a movie called Marty Supreme.
So, the trailer for Marty Supreme just landed, and it’s wild to see Timothée Chalamet playing a ping-pong champion named Marty Mauser, while Tyler, the Creator (who goes by Tyler Okonma here), Gwyneth Paltrow, and Fran Drescher all show up too. This movie, directed by Josh Safdie and written with Ronald Bronstein, is dropping on December 25 and has music by Daniel Lopatin, who’s worked with Safdie before.
It’s kind of crazy because this is Josh Safdie’s first big movie without his brother Benny since way back in 2008. Tyler, the Creator has acted before, like in Loiter Squad and his music videos (including “Sugar on My Tongue”), but this is his first time in a huge film. Marty Supreme is also Timothée Chalamet’s first big thing since he played Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
Fans think it’s cool when two people who joked about each other actually work together.
“Tell Tim Chalamet to come get at me.”
Sometimes, movie news gets mixed up with random stuff—like, why does Instagram always want to load when you’re just trying to read about a film?
