Wednesday just dropped a brand new track called Elderberry Wine, marking their first release since Rat Saw God came out in 2023.
With a fresh music video shot by Spencer Kelly (the same person who did “Chosen to Deserve”), the song is already getting people talking. Karly Hartzman explained, “Elderberry is known as a healing fruit, and is an ingredient in many tonics and syrups to aid the immune system. One time, however, my sister consumed them raw, and it immediately induced vomiting.” She also said, “So ‘Elderberry Wine’ is ultimately a love song about creating just the right environment for fulfillment. There’s a delicate balance that needs to be created, especially in love, for two lives to intersect without poisoning each other.”
The band’s main crew—Karly, MJ Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis, Alan Miller, and Ethan Baechtold—worked on this single together, but now Lenderman has shared that he’s not going to be touring with them anymore.
Fans think it’s always a little sad when someone leaves a group they like.
By the way, Rat Saw God landed at number 32 in a list of the top 100 albums from the 2020s so far, which is pretty cool. There’s also a fresh review out for “Elderberry Wine” if you want more details.
