Wu-Tang Clan Rare Album at Australian Art Museum

Next month, the Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, famously bought by Martin Shkreli and later auctioned off, will be played for the public for the first time.

Australia’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) will host these listening sessions as part of their Namedropping exhibition. Visitors will get to hear a 30-minute snippet of the album and see its physical form, which is kept in a shiny silver box. Jarrod Rawlins, who handles curatorial affairs at MONA, mentioned that some objects have magical qualities that go beyond what they’re made from. He felt this album was special and had to be included in their show.

The current owners, Pleasr, are bound by a contract that prevents them from selling or making money off the album until 2109. However, they can share it at private events like those happening at MONA from June 15-24.

I think it’s cool when rare things become available to more people.

Imagine seeing an album locked away for so long finally being shared!
